Fashion - Fashion Show - Project Debussy

February has been a month with a multitude of fashion events. One of the events I attended at the beginning of the month was a fashion event called Project Debussy which was held at the Boston Symphony Orchestra. It was a contest in which eleven students of design were chosen to create a piece of evening wear inspired by the life and music of conmposer Claude Debussy. The students who participated were Kowoon Jeong, The School of Fashion Design; JanFrevic Lujares, Massachusetts College of Arts and Design; Htwe Htwe Han, Yannery Burgos, and Katie Suji Kim, Mount Ida College; Kaitlyn Gonfrade, and Amanda Simonelli, Framingham State University; Megan Coffman, Amanda Erickson, and Lindsay Holcomb, Lasell College; and Teresa Calabro, Fisher College.
The original pieces included the use of various materials such as silk, taffeta and cretin. The creativity of the student designs was amazing and much appreciated by the audience because in addition to the jury who chose the award winner of the night, the audience could vote for their favorite design. Fashion student Kowoon Jeong was the official winner with her sheer, shining and embroidered gown. The beautiful design created by Teresa Calabro won the award from public voting. The amazing event was organized and coordinated by Kathy Benharis.
