Mario and me.
Thank you Smita Jacob/Hogger & Co for the picture.
On Tuesday, October 23, I went to the press preview of an exhibition by the photographer Mario Testino at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). Entitled "In Your Face" it is his first show in the USA and includes some of his work from the past thirty years. There are 125 pictures which immortalize models, singers, and members of the British royal family.
After Mario was introduced to the press, he posed between pictures of his two favorite photo subjects - Gisele Bundchen and Madonna. When asked about Gisele he commented that as a model she is perfect from head to toe and she lights up a room as soon as the enters. Also, she is one of the most energetic people he has ever met.
The event included a one hour Q&A with Mario conducted by the MFA director Malcolm Rogers. Later the journalists and other attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions.
I had two questions.
HM - You are a famous and well recognized photographer. Do you still get butterflies in your stomach when you do new work?
MT - Of course. People respect me as a famous and experienced photographer. However, when I wake up in the morning I don't have this feeling. I feel that I am only Mario and as a photographer I need to do my work as best I can. I am the same as other people because I get nervous and anxious.
HM - You said that you liked Brazil. I am Brazilian and I'd like to know what you like best about Brazil.
MT - Since you are Brazilian we can talk in Portuguese (speaking in Portuguese to me and laughing he says I am sorry everyone and then continues.) I like the Brazilian people and their attitude towards life. I think Brazilians know how to live their lives to the fullest. They know how to take advantage of the possibilities life has given them and they know how to party. They are wonderful people. I love the country of Brazil and it is one on my favorite places to go to relax.

The exihibition is now open to the general public:

Dica de Perfume - Dahlia Noir Eau de Toilette - Givenchy

October 13, 2012

The new version of fragrance Dahlia Noir EDT has been launched in 2012 adding up to last year’s edition Dahlia Noir Eau de Parfum. Creators of the house of Givenchy provided the new flacon with feminine and gentle pink shades, while the composition is built as a floral-fruity mixture, supported with precious woody accords. Perfumer of the new edition is Francois Demachy. Demachy gives the new version Dahlia Noir Eau de Toilette a juicy and luminous start in which fresh and citrusy aromas of mandarin and lemon intertwine skillfully with thick and sweet peach zest. This extremely fruity opening leaves more space for a floral bouquet in the heart of the perfume, the fragrant petals of which make the flirtatious pink cocktail more playful. A base incorporates creamy and soft shades of sandalwood and vanilla, accompanied with warm amber and cedar. Flacon of the new edition is shaped just like the one of last year's edition Dahlia Noir EDP, and is available as 50 and 75ml EDT. Transparent glass of this geometric-shape bottle highlights pink liquid of the fragrance that goes along perfectly with a stopper in the same shade and with the romantic composition of the perfume. On the market since the beginning of February 2012!

Top Notes: Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Peach
Middle Notes: Pink Pepper, Rose
Base Notes:Sandalwood, Cedar, Amber, Vanilla, Musk

Still talking about New York Fashion Week. Another great show I attended was Carolina Herrera. Carolina as always presented a stunning Spring collection at Lincoln Center.

“Lightness, movement, and fluidity,” said Carolina Herrera backstage at her airy-as-thistledown collection.

With this idea in mind, Herrera showed langorous thirties-length dresses in soft chiffon, crepe, and organza, cut on the bias so that they fluttered prettily around the wearer.

My first day at NYFW was a big success. I attended the amazing shows of Custo Barcelona, Diane von  Furstenberg and David Tlale shows.
