Phylyda aims to redefine fashion-forward swimwear for all, crafting the perfect-fitting separates that are made to mix and match and celebrate the nuances and diversity of the female figure. Pairing aesthetically-driven designs with fit-focused techniques and technology, each item in Phylyda’s collection is customizable and current. A pleasure-seeker first and foremost, the Phylyda woman knows she’s beautiful because she knows herself and reaches for swimwear that lets her truly dive into life.

The German-born 33-year-old designer, who studied at Studio Berçot in Paris and has brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, and Paco Rabanne on her résumé, is back in her hometown, Berlin, and fearlessly taking the plunge into swimwear. “For the first year, it was all about funneling the great inspiration and knowledge I had gained throughout my career,” says Maurer. “Essentially, I think as a designer, it is my job to make pieces that work with the natural shape of different bodies and to bring out the best of what’s there!”

Sinesia Karol - Spring/Summer 2015 Swimwear Collection

Last month I was invited to a preview of the Spring/Summer 2015 swimwear collection of the Brazilian designer Sinesia Karol. The debut of her collection was held at Neiman Marcus at Natick Mall. The pieces are original and stunning. Brazil is a country which has many contrasts of nature and Karol found inspiration from her native country in the four elements of earth, water, air and fire.
