Triumphantly titled The Glorious Olympics, Lowman’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection takes inspiration from the 1980’s Summer Olympics. Fusing street style with luxury fabrics in bold colors and patterns, The Glorious Olympics revamps looks from the official Olympics opening ceremonies of that decade, re-imagining it for the modern age by merging sophisticated, clean lines and silhouettes with a touch of edge and featuring lambskin leathers mixed with neoprene, mixed media cow hides, golden tricot nylons, pullovers, and tracksuits all in unique shapes and textures.

Marcel Ostertag presented his 2019 Spring/Summer collection called MUSE Wednesday, September 12th at Spring Studios. MUSE is Ostertag’s sixth time showing during New York Fashion Week and the first time ever for the men’s line.
Ostertag’s MUSE is a tactile and colorful journey influenced deeply by the close relationships with the muses in his life. The designer feels “Kissed by the muse” every day and their inspiration on his collection and daily life is something he is grateful for. In a tribute to these special women, he dedicates MUSE to them. There are several women that Ostertag considers muses but none more important than his mother, Doris. Said the designer after his show,”My mother’s love and guidance are always present in my heart. Her unwavering support allows me to design freely and to follow my creative dreams.”
The designer also cites the music, art and fashion of the 70’s, a decade that continuously fascinates him, as a source of inspiration for this collection. The highwaisted, pleated pants and sequined bell sleeve tops, as well as the various takes on the ubiquitous wrap-dress in particular give a nod to 70’s silhouette throughout the collection. Despite the obvious vintage inspired vibe, the entire collection still felt completely fresh and modern due to Ostertag’s masterly touch.
MUSE is a joyful explosion of yellows, blues, lavenders, oranges and nudes that was summed up perfectly in his Rainbow sweater; a cashmere crew comprising of over 24 shades of brightly colored yarn. Other highlights of the show were the over embroidered and beaded pants, Iris printed charmeuse ruffle tiered gown, and the blush sequined mesh top. Standouts from the men’s capsule collection were the oversized color blocked cashmere hoodie and Fuji silk jumpsuit (as well as a wildly editorial, but ultimately niche version in blush micro sequins).
Marcel Ostertag shoes again were produced by German footwear manufacturef Tamaris. The women’s shoes featured block heeled suede booties, kitten heel pumps and a show stopping knee length knit and fringed boot in lavender. For the men, white sneakers featuring pops of bright colored elastic bands across the instep that are sure to be best sellers.
Marcel Ostertag’s entire collection is meticulously designed and produced in Germany from the finest materials sourced from Italy. The models, including the newly betrothed Barron Hilton III and Tessa Hilton, made their way down the runway to music created by the designer’s brother; musical artist Johann Ostertag. Hair was created by the Redken team, make-up by NYX Professional Makeup, and nails by New York based Gloss Lab.

Louis Verdad, a new womenswear brand helmed by veteran LA designer Louis Verdad, debuted its Fall/Winter 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week on Sunday February 12th at Pier 59 Studios in Chelsea. Fall/Winter 2017 marks the second season and the very first runway presentation in New York for the LA based label.
For its newest collection, VERDAD took its mood inspiration from Fall on the streets of LA – with tops, separates and dresses in a range of dark colors, floral and watercolor inspired prints mixed with crisp cream looks and shimmering paillettes for evening. Long knits, sheer blouses and voluminous sweaters made playful statements of volume through artful layering. Classic VERDAD design signatures include a bomber jacket and midi length, knife pleated skirts.
Models on the runway wore sleek ponytails and directional makeup – a look VERDAD created in collaboration with AVEDA for hair and makeup. Accessories provided a strong counterpoint to the runway looks. Shoes were provided by Perla Formentini with some new styles created by the Italian shoe brand in collaboration for VERDAD FW17. Lillian Shalom provided jewelry, Gaspar Gloves outfitted models with gloves, sunglasses were provided by ic! berlin and HUE provided tights and socks for the runway looks. Guests and models enjoyed sipping on Hint Water and Arizona Tea while enjoying the presentation.
The founder and creative director, Louis Verdad, whose luminous career spans 15+ years dressing the likes of Madonna, Cate Blanchett, Christina Aguilera and more under his namesake label, had his sights set on a runway presentation in New York since launching VERDAD last year. “I see the VERDAD woman as someone who travels effortlessly from LA to New York on a regular basis so it made sense for me to show my collection during New York Fashion Week,” explains the designer. “I am inspired by the women who wear my clothes in both these cities- LA for the lifestyle and attitude and New York for the precision and the playfulness.”

Dan Liu Treats Guests to a Fall Fairy Tale on a Cold Winter Morning
Dan Liu is developing a reputation for putting on a show at New York Fashion Week and this season he outdid himself; Modern dance, a George Michael tribute, a model fairy, and as always beautiful fashions all took center stage at Dan Liu’s Fall/Winter 2017 runway show. Lui , dubbed the ‘King of the Cocktail’ dress, presented a fall collection complete with tweed coats, knit dresses and vibrant silk scarves teeming with wearable pieces.
The full house of chatter came to a hush and the runway went dark and from the darkness the magical whimsy began as modern dancer, Irakli Shengelia, performed for guests with an interpretive dance.

The fashion picked up on the fall theme pulling out the red tones of foliage as a model sashayed down the runway in a vibrant red floor-length coat. The red hues continued and slowly transitioned into graphic printed, color blocked, and structured cocktail dresses that were expertly tailored. Liu’s designs all featured intricate and unexpected details elevating each look such as a “pop-art” anime detailed collar peeking out of a black double-breasted pea coat. The collection contained a mix of mod silhouettes, dresses and coats with classic feminine European styling that one could imagine on the likes of Kate Middleton. Looks included vibrant silk scarves and bold hued shoes by Liliana Shoes that accentuated the versatility of Dan Liu’s designs.
The evening ended with a true surprise for the audience complete with a finale tribute to George Michael where the designer himself sang “Kissing a Fool” while a modern interpretive dancer in a morph costume covered in autumn leaves danced around the runway in true theatrical fashion.
Dan, best known for his tailoring that accentuates the female form with a romantic flair, modernized classic silhouettes with large flounced sleeves and embellishments of crystal and embroidery. Dan Liu is one of Canada’s best design exports and has become a household name with his successful, funky couture line, Tatsuki.
Notable attendees included Dorothy Wang and Bianca Espada from The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, Jersey Shore’s Sammi Giancola. Miss USA - Deshuana Barber, Miss Universe - Iris Mittenaere, and Serbian Singer Didi J.
