LifeStyle - The Freshmen Day - Harvard University

The school calendar here in the US is different from some parts of the world such as Brazil where the classes start in February/March. The classes here start between August and Mid September. Each state, school or college has their own calendar.
Here are some pictures I took from the Freshman Opening Day, Class of 2014 at Harvard University that started yesterday. The Opening Days are the days that the new students are welcome at the University. The proud parents bring their "kids" to the University along with all their stuff such as beds, mattresses, refrigerator, microwave, clothes, TV, and computer. They bring everything necessary to live the next 4 years in the university dorms. It is also time to learn about the life in the university, to know the campus structure, to learn about the many extracurricular activities available to students, to do language placement tests, among others. It is really a big event!

No, no this is not the flea market.
Those are objects and furniture that the former students left behind. They are sold for the next students who are coming. Do you want to buy a chair, a table, a TV? Don't worry you can purchase it for a good price.  Foto: Helena M.

Look how many stuff. I  can imagine thera such more somewhere. How many students graduate every year and let all this stuff behind!
